Encrypted video: Video captured by your cameras is privately analyzed and encrypted on your home hub device (Apple TV or HomePod) and securely uploaded to iCloud so that only you and those you share it with can view it.
HomeCam is the only app on the App Store that allows users to watch multiple live feeds from HomeKit-supported cameras on one screen. The Home app only shows snapshots of camera feeds until you open a camera to full the full stream, HomeCam allows you to easily monitor what your camera is seeing in realtime from a single dashboard. HomeCam also gives you HomeKit controls inside the app so you can control accessories in the same room as your camera.

Along with a brand new design, HomeCam allows you to show, hide, or rearrange particular cameras. This feature is handy when you have multiple cameras and you need to better organize them. I plan to heavily expand my HomeKit camera lineup this year, so I am going to love having this app on my home screen.
Pet-specific cameras take things a step further. They let you not just see, hear, and talk to your animals, but remotely play with them and toss treats. And beyond just alerting you when your cat or dog is moving around, pet-specific cameras can tell you when they're making noise. The Furbo even alerts you when your dog is looking directly at the camera (which it calls a selfie), has been barking for over one minute, or is crying or howling. It also notifies you when it detects a person, or if your smoke or carbon monoxide alarm goes off. That makes it useful as both a home security camera and a dog nanny.
Some pet-specific cameras feature interactive toys so you can play with your feline or pooch from your phone. The Petcube Play 2(Opens in a new window), which we haven't yet reviewed, features a built-in laser pointer that's perfect for cats.
The cameras let you tap and drag your finger over the video feed to shine a laser on nearly anything in the frame. It lags a moment or two behind the video, so you can't be particularly precise, but it's still a welcome diversion for bored pets (and owners).
The longer you use Siri and Dictation, the better they understand you and improve. To help Siri and Dictation recognize your pronunciation and provide better responses, certain information such as names of your contacts or music, books, and podcasts you enjoy is sent to Apple servers using encrypted protocols. Siri and Dictation do not associate this information with your Apple ID, but rather with a random, device-generated identifier. You can reset that identifier at any time by turning Siri and Dictation off and back on, effectively restarting your relationship with them. When you turn Siri and Dictation off, your Siri data associated with the Siri identifier is deleted. The learning process starts over when you turn Siri back on. On-device dictation helps protect your privacy further by performing all processing completely offline.
In iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 or later, HomeKit Secure Video ensures that activity detected by your security cameras is analyzed and encrypted by your Apple devices at home before being securely stored in iCloud.
And setting it up isn't hard. In fact, you can start using that time-worn phone to keep your home safe in just three steps. As for the other phones is your drawer, here's how you can sell them or do a trade-in. (For more tips, check out why your internet router is probably in the wrong spot and the six places you should be putting home security cameras on your property.)
Alfred is free to use and gives you a remote view of your live feed, motion detection with alerts, free cloud storage, a two-way audio feed and use of both the front and rear cameras. To unlock additional features, like higher-resolution viewing and recording, zoom capabilities, ad removal and 30-day cloud storage, you can upgrade to Alfred Premium.
From your new phone, you can change a few more settings, such as turning notifications on or off, setting a camera or viewer name, adding other people to your Trust Circle (granting other people access to your video feeds), removing a camera, checking how many times a camera has disconnected, setting motion detection sensitivity and enabling a low-light filter on cameras.
Apple has pursued a privacy strategy for personal and intimate data that tries to walk a middle path between options unappealing to many: either storing video locally on hardware you own and have to manage and troubleshoot in your house or relying on fast broadband and cheap cloud storage to push it offsite for lower costs and better access in case of theft, disaster, or equipment failure.
Where other types of security cameras send video to the cloud (often unencrypted), security cameras that support HomeKit Secure Video send thier video streams to one of those devices on your local network first. That device will process the video, performing tasks such as facial recognition and what have you, and then encrypting it before uploading it to your iCloud account. You can read more about HomeKit Secure Video on our sister site, Macworld.
Security: There have been plenty of headlines about hackers compromising home cameras, baby monitors, and other Wi-Fi devices to spy on people, so be sure to check what steps has each manufacturer taken to eliminate this problem. Look for a camera that supports up-to-date wireless security protocols, such as WPA2, and make sure it encrypts internet transmission of your user name, your password, and the live feeds. Never install a security camera (or a router or any other device on your home network) without changing its default user ID and password.
If we compare the two cameras for indoor usage, probably the Logitech Circle View is slightly better. But if we take the dispute outside, the fact is that there are just much better cameras than the Logitech Circle View for outdoor usage.
Your pet will need to get used to the look, sound, and functions of the pet camera in order to react positively to it. Start by putting the camera in your pet's surroundings so that they can become familiar with the sight of it. Next, you can plug it in and explore its features with your pet. For example, for treat-dispensing pet cameras, have your pet sit with you and dispense a treat. Encourage your pet to go and get the treat and offer praise. Once your pet associates the camera with good things, it will be much more comfortable with its functions.
Camera Resolution Fact: 5 MP cameras have approximately 5 million pixels, whereas 1080p HD cameras have 2 million, and 4K cameras have over 8 million. Because the number of pixels plays a big role in the image quality of cameras, that means 5 MP is better than 1080p HD, but 4K still stands the tallest.1 2ff7e9595c
